A piston compressor contains one or more cylinders with engine-driven pistons. The air is sucked in one or more steps until it reaches the desired pressure. After compression, the compressed air goes through an air cooler and is then stored in the air tank.
Fields of application :
Piston compressors are mainly designed for small compressed air requirements. Single stage compressors can reach a maximum of 8 to 10 bar, multiple stage compressors can produce pressures of up to 15 bar.
They are designed to work intermittently. The charge level of an air cooled pistons compressor cannot exceed 60 to 70%.
After 2 minutes of compression, the compressor must rest for 1.5 minute. We recommend that you do not exceed 4 hours of compression in a day in total.
